Elkas
By Drac
The most northern of Kingdom of Saralis, a newly formed state with about 60.000 inh. 93% humans, mostly Jameri and Haid. As a new state, Elkas have a weak military, but they are aided by the Order of the Wyvern, a knight's order who were once dedicated to defend the Champion of Saralis.
Elkas is located in the northern part of Saralis, in the southern edges of Fern woods. The area is fairly fertile land around the coasts and to the forest, but it gets more barren inland.

Capital
Elkas, 10.000 inh. The city has a low but solid stone wall and a gatehouse at the southern gate. In spite of it's small size Elkas is a big trade-city, every spring trappers comes to sell their furs, and every fall the farmers and herders come with their goods.
Regent
King Radâm III, (62yrs), rules the country through feudalism.
Other City's
Vilor
A smaller city, 8 league SSW from Elkas with about 1.200 inh. It is
beautifully placed next to a forest with some good hunting grounds. Baron
Ira Manwe, who leases it from the young princess, maintains it.
Vilor is also known for it's woodcarvers, the carvings they do is probably
among the best made by human hands, but due to the limited communication
south the goods have never reached the continent.
Sarna
A small town 10 league south of Elkas, about 600 inh. The town survives on the fishing in the Bay of Ulor.
Makeh
A small dirty mining town, 800 inh. It lies 8 leagues east of Elkas. The town is not beautiful to look at, but due to the silver and tin mines there it is the major income for the country.
Sannvi
A city in the plains, 1.200 inh. Bordering to Karima, it lies 17 leagues east of Elkas. A very beautiful city lies as an oasis among the plains. The major income of the city is from raising horses; it is said that the best horses in the country are from Sannvi.
Tilas
The most northern town in Elkas has 400 inh. It is located in the middle of Fernwoods, 11 leagues north of Elkas. Most of the population is woodsmen, working there.
Religion
Lords of Orhan, a larger Temple is located in Elkas, and small ones in
almost every town and village.
The order of the Wyvern has a temple, dedicated primary to Valris and
Kuor, but there are small shrines to the other lords in the building.
Places of Note
Fernwoods
A very large forest, starting just north of Elkas and continuing all
the way to the great mountains. It is said to house very dangerous
creatures; Wyvern lives in the mountains just north of it use the forest
as hunting grounds. In the eastern parts of the forest are rumors of large
hounds with glowing eyes that attack anyone who passes. (GM: this is
mostly a rumor made by the elves living there so they will be left in
peace.)
Something that is a bit more than rumors are the tales of large trolls
living in the forest, big aggressive beasts attacking anything who enters
their grounds.
The Wyvern Cliffs
The legendary place where it is said Saric Manweld was slain on a Wyvern hunt. It is said to be a Cliffside filled with Wyvern nests, which a traveler will discover, is true if he gets there.
Organizations
Order of the Wyvern
A knight's order that in the old days was a guard for the king of
Saralis, but it was shattered when Saralis fell.
For 800 years ago one of the Wyvern blades was found by a man named Manus
af Sannvi, he found out the background of the weapon and was very
fascinated by it. A year later he founded the Order of the Wyvern again.
And in time they found other blades like it.
They built a temple in the city of Elkas, close to where the blade was
found.
Today the order has two hundred members in Elkas, and another 180 in
Saral, who only obeys the master of the order, Count Fano Landara.
In the last war against Dorman the order participated and is now very high
valued to the king and nobility in Elkas.
As a symbol the order carries a black Wyvern on a red bottom, knights
carry it on their surcoat, they also carry a blued broadsword with a
silver hilt formed like a Wyvern [+5Bs].
The Wyvern Blades
Five swords, made by San-Thalos, a Loari elf, were given to the leaders
of the king of Saralis guard.
The blades are magical and very good in combat [RM: +20ob, plus one
additional power tied to each blade related to the Wyvern sword].
Of the found Blades one is carried by Count Fano Landara (Broadsword), one
by Radâm III (Longsword) and one is carried by Ruma Hantos, head of the
order in Saral (Shortsword). Another one was lost when Saric was killed in
the Wyvern pass (Saber, Se adventures, the Wyvern Legacy). The fifth sword
(Bastardsword) is still missing.
History
The Country of Elkas was founded 12 years ago when the King Radâm III
broke from Dorman and defeated their forces in the following battle.
Another short war broke out over the summer 6.050 that's when the order
decided to join the forces of Elkas and together they defeated Dorman's
forces.
The War (Also se the Wyvern Legacy)
In the Autumn of the year 6.052TEI, Dormanian forces attack Elkas,
supported by Lugrôki from Ulor, forces they got by making a pact with the
White Lord himself.
Elkas, although aided by reinforcements from neighboring countries have no
chance in repelling a attack of that magnitude, and by the time winter
falls their forces are almost shattered, and the enemy lays the city of
Elkas under siege.
Lorgalis, who have great plans of attacking through Saral and into
U'Lyshak when the summer comes does not want to be dragged into a long
siege, so he orders a all out attack and after a week of intense and
bloody fighting the capital of Elkas in taken and destroyed. The royal
family is taken capture.
When the summer comes Lorgalis discover, almost to late, a new danger.
Large forces of the Dragon Lord Sulthon Ni'Shaang is moving into the
Wyvern pass. He is forced to meet them or being attacked in the back, he
realizes that the chance he had in attacking U'Lyshak from the north has
been lost.
