Zor

The Ancient Kingdom - The Desert Wastes

By Jonas Cedher, VWD

The kingdom of Zor was the proudest of the six, and not coincidentally the first to fall. Her population made up almost entirely by Talath peoples, Zor was a wast land of fertile fields and rich mountains. Now it is the most complete wasteland on Jaiman. The heart of the realm, once a region of rivers and rolling hills, is now a plain of dry cracked earth. In the very center, where the capital city of Verzor once stood, is a huge crater hundreds of feet across, surrounded by an expanse of black glassy slag extending for miles. No sign of the glorious people remains, and no one enters this waste: legends say that those who ventured too far into the waste returns only to grow sick and die of an incurable malady.

(Quoted from Jaiman sourcebook by I.C.E.)

The Mairel Tribes

Zor is not all waste, however. Along the hills to the east and north reside several semi-nomadic tribes of men, rustic descendants of the Zori. They ride the graceful Mairel, across the plains, subsisting on what they can gather and hunt.

Places of Note

Citadel of Dansart

Buried in the side of a cliff by the river, not more than five days from Gryphon College. The main building is several thousand years old, aging back to the time of the Zorian Empire. Around the citadel there are a series of caves containing most of the stationary army of Dansart (about 3-400 men). Inside the citadel there is about 20 or so messengers and ten high guards.

Gryphon College

A center of knowledge, at the very border of the wasteland, it is also a place of organization against the gathering of the Iron Wind.

Artifacts: Almost all of the Items of Zor are in the hands of the Gryphon College now (both the Crown and the Pendant). Still to be found is the Gryphon Sword. What no one knows is that is not longer in the Tombs of Ūr, but in the hands of the sorcerer Osaran.

Tombs of Ūr

A former resting place for the great kings of the Zori. It is a place of great treasures but of great dangers as well, the Zori’s fascination for technology was well used for traps. (More in Jaiman Sourcebook)

Persons of Note

Some short descriptions of some people that make a difference in the barren wasteland of Zor.

  •    Osaran: Linaeri, Osaran is the High priest of Arnak over Dansart and Ulkaya, he commands the desert dogs and army’s of mutants from the deep of the wasteland. (From Terry Amthor's Grand Campaign)
  •    Tokmar: Procreator/Zori, Tokmar was born 200 years ago. Due to his blood and bad uprising he is a cunning mercenary who takes pleasure in the pain and suffering of others, his base is hidden deep inside the wasteland in old ruins. He has a band of 34 merc's with him (9 veterans), both men and women are handpicked for their cold-heartedness and skill at arms. (From I.C.E.'s Curse of Kabis)
  •    Zaris: Erlini, Zaris is the leader of the Gryphon College. (From I.C.E.'s Jaiman Source Book)

Adventures

The citadel of Dansart, a place of dangerous but prosperous investigating. For more notes about it se the Grand Campaign by Terry Amthor.
These encounters are originally made for the continuing Wyvern Legacy, where the characters go to Gryphon college to seek help. It can also be used if you play the Grand Campaign of Curse of Cabis.

The Meeting

After the initial encounter with the characters and the appearance of Andraax, Osaran sends a message to the other high priests of Arnak, summoning their representants for a meeting in his citadel. It will take about 3-4 weeks before all are there. 4 other priests or other high persons with their personal guards, about 5-10 each.

Tokmar

After the meeting with the characters he will summon Tokmar and offer him a generous reward (about 500 gold) for their capture or death.
Tokmar will immediately start searching for the characters, also using his contacts in Kaytha and Prevan.
