Heathen church attacks royalists
Families of Helyssan loyalists are systematically being prosecuted by the forces of the Evil cult of Yarthraak. Homes are being burnt; women and children are killed or sent to work camps and all worldly possessions confiscated. The church of Yarthraak assumed regency of Helyssa when the old duke died in a tragic hunting accident and Kier, the duke’s son, disappeared. Soon after high priest Aeryk of Yarth accepted the regency, the attack on all loyal to the old ducal family and Rhakhaan began. Those who speak against the cult are questioned or killed, and their lands are taken by Yarthraak and given to the cult or to those who swear loyalty to the new regent. The center of the church’s worship is the sea drake Yarthraak, to whom the priests make human sacrifices in exchange of enormous powers. Some of the old noblemen refuse the rule of Aeryk, and rebel against this oppressive cult. Their forces are hopelessly outmatched by the regular army and the dark magic of the sea drake, but still they fight. Prince Kier is still missing.
