Loari Technology

By Jonas Cedher

The Loari elves of Kulthea is the most advanced race after the first Era since the Taranians, who perished during the Interregnum, they have ships that fly, steam powered boats and spring powered weaponry.

On Námar-Tol, the main center of Loari on Kulthea they reached a technology that borders to Industrial levels, although the elves have a little different view of life on things like that and does not see any advantage in a industrialized society.

Transportations

Air Barges

Enormous vessels that travel the skies, they look like zeppelins and are driven forward by steam powered air screws.

Sky Ship

Not an invention of the Loari, but instead taken from Eidolon and perfected to sleek fast attack vessels. The Loari rarely use Sky ships for trade, instead using their slower air barges that can take a lot more load.

These vessels are wind powered, but has when possible at least one magician onboard that can make sure it is

Steam skiff

A relativly small noicy craft, looks like a traditional skiff with the big boiler tank in the rear and a water wheel in the center of the craft.

Loari Weaponry

The Loari elves are very igneous when it comes to weapons, their melee weapon are known all over the world for the quality, but what really show their technological superiority is the missile and siege weapons they made.

Kalta

The Kalta is a spring powered dart (or bolt) pistol, it is a light weapon with high rate of fire and it has a magazine capacity of 6, 8 or 10 darts or bolts.

The darts that the weapon fire is easy to poison and there is not much risk for the user since they are protected inside the box magazine.

Game Data:

Uses attack table jsw.02 (download here.)

Can fire twice per turn, once in missile phase and once in melee phase, but the user has to divide his OB for the attacks.

Optional rule: It requires 20 skill levels to divide the attacks.

Kaltira

This is a rifle model of the Kalta, it is a lot more powerful, but have a little slower rate of fire (only missile phase)

Game Data:

Uses attack table jsw.03 (download here).

Fires once per turn without any reload modifications.

Mangonel

This is a heavier spring powered weapon developed by the Loari to use on ships and as a siege weapon. It fires a shell, ball or rock at a higher velocity then other siege weapons. It is a very heavy weapon and is only seen in fixed defense positions or on larger ships.

This weapon has nothing to do with the historical catapult called Mangonel.

For more information see ICE#1130 Sea Law.

Steam Catapult

This very heavy steam powered weapon is the most advanced siege weapon constructed, to call it a siege weapon is wrong though, since it is not movable, but instead used in defensive costal positions. Compared to other similar weapons the Steam Catapult has a terrifying accuracy and can fire direct fire on ships up to half a mile and indirect fire in excess of two miles.

Even though the weapon is called Catapult it has very little to do with those, instead work closer to the spring powered Mangonel weapon above.

The weapon works through steam pressure building up in a pressure chamber of the weapon, and then released out through the barrel of the weapon where the projectile lays. The projectile is a 20lbs iron shell that will go through almost all defenses.

Goblin engineers have also been working with steam powered weapons for years, but their inventions are too dangerous to use, killing more of their crew then the enemy.
